70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights

Opening evening of the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (on the evening of 6 December).

The NGO African Artists for Development in partnership with Chaillot – Théâtre national de la Danse, and with the support of TILDER, organised the opening evening of the celebrations to mark the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights under the patronage of Richard Ferrand, President of the French National Assembly. This exceptional evening, dedicated to dialogue between contemporary African creators and the rest of the world, featured a unique presentation of three choreographic sequences which were inspired by the “Refugees on the Move” programme developed by African Artists for Development in African refugee camps.

The evening was an opportunity for sponsors to take the stage and present a series of important testimonies illustrating how the leaders of major organisations and companies are committed to actively engaging in promoting human rights around the world. In addition to the creative dialogue, an intergenerational dialogue also took place, with a class of 8-year old children from the 20th arrondissement of Paris participating in the evening’s events. Designated the guests of honour, these members of the new generation represent those who will take up the torch of the struggle for human rights.
