Each year, Tilder partners with the Toyota Open International de l’Île de Ré to present the “Tilder Commitment Award” to a champion whose personal commitment is recognised. The award honours a player of the tournament whose actions and initiatives throughout the year “create impact” within their community.
In tennis, wheelchair athletes bear far higher costs than able-bodied players, starting with the competition wheelchair and its equipment. It is for her work on this issue that Vitória Miranda, a former junior world No. 1, was chosen in 2026. In Belo Horizonte, she has long run a programme of sports equipment donations for young people with reduced mobility, and is working to fund prostheses for para-athletes in her community.
On this occasion, Matthias Leridon, Partner and Chairman of Tilder, noted that a top-level athlete is often a role model in society, but that wheelchair tennis still has too few of them, for lack of funding. He highlighted Tilder’s commitment to Vitória, whose actions already make her a symbol within her community.
Vitória Miranda thanked the tournament organisers and the Tilder teams for the award, which will allow her to strengthen her sporting and charitable work.
